BACKSTORY
My friend Chris (and longstanding guitarist of my 3-piece band since high school) has been playing the same damn Yamaha Pacifica guitar since he was a kid. He has a Schecter, a Les Paul Studio, and a bunch of his dad's guitars but he keeps going back to the Pacifica covered in Tool stickers. It wasn't holding up in a mix with our drummer's high-end rig and my high-end rig anymore. I decided to go shopping and I found this loaded guitar online. I never heard of Justin Aufdemkampe before this, but I became a fan from the specs alone. Theres a lot of great features for something in this price range so it seemed right. I'm glad I found it.
I ordered it from Guitar Center Times Square and picked it up the night I saw Mike Orlando and Corey Glover at Iridium Jazz club with Chris. I figured it would be a cool surprise. Chris being Chris refused to accept it as a gift and decided he would just borrow it when are in the studio. Because I had the guitar with me and Mike Orlando is a Charvel guy, I had him sign the guitar after the show. He thought it was a pretty cool guitar too and felt bad signing a guitar with the tags still on it. I don't regret that signature for a second. Mike Orlando is well-within the pantheon of my guitar heroes and it was cool to see him live at such a small setting. He always looks like he's having a great time on stage.
