BACKSTORY
Phil Collen of Def Leppard is a hell of a writer, player, and gear designer. It's a great looking guitar and I love the neck on it. The color(s) are awesome. I knew about iridescent paint but I had no idea you could do an iridescent stain. As interesting as they are completed, they are just as interesting in progress. The guitar looks dull and flat until much later on in the finish process.
Another surprise is the amount of space the sustainer unit occupies. That thing is a monster! It has two 9v battery compartments because it's an 18v system. A good amount of wood has been routed out for these gadgets but you would never know from the weight. It's still pretty heavy. The system is a lot more robust when compared to a Sustainiac or E-Bow.
EXTRA DETAILS
I wanted to get the back of the headstock signed by Phil himself when he went to Music Zoo, but I got stuck at work. Luckily John Oliva at Music Zoo (now at Mobile Guitars) hooked me up with an autograph.
