BACKSTORY
Uncle Pete was always a Strat guy. He bought his first one brand new in the 70's but he always felt like there was something missing with it. Fast forward a few decades, he plays my custom Snowburst strat and it's love at first sight. It turns out the missing ingredients were a thicker neck, 9.5'' radius, and a humbucker in the bridge. He can play anything on it and he falls in love with that guitar every time he picks it up.
The build process was tricky because we couldn't figure out a theme. We were going to go white with an orange racing stripe like his '69 "Pace Car of the Year" Camaro, but he decided his daily attire was a better fit. He's a blue jeans and black t-shirt kind of guy. Now, his guitar is too.
We went extra classy with the figured wood. Quilted maple top and back with a crazy figure, plus a mixed-figure Birdseye maple neck. It really shows off the kind of stuff they have in the wood piles at Fender. I haven't seen this guitar in a while and I'm drooling at these old photos. Greg really outdid himself on the wood selection.
